Mayor of the Lockyer Valley Regional Council
Let
me introduce myself ........
For those who don't know me I am 46 years old and live in Blanchview
with my wife of 21 years Ann and our three sons.
I have served 11 years on Gatton Shire Council with the last 4 years
as Mayor and the preceding 3 years as Deputy Mayor.
During my time on Council I have held many positions of
responsibility and still remain very actively involved in many
Community Organisations.
Since graduating from Queensland Agricultural College in 1981 my
entire professional career has been centred around Primary
Production and Local Government, which has me well placed to
understand the issues which face the Lockyer Valley Region.
On Wednesday April 2nd 2008 I was sworn in as Mayor of the Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
The Lockyer Valley Regional Council comprises the former Gatton
and Laidley Shire Council's. Officially amalgamated on the 15th
March 2008 under the Queensland Governments Local Government Reform
initiative.
Both Gatton and Laidley Shire's shared a strong and proud history in
the development of the region and will now continue to do that as
one.
The Lockyer Valley Region is ideally situated less than 1 hours
drive from inner city Brisbane, straddling the Warrego Highway
covering an area of just over 2000sq km and is home to more than
20000 residents.
Modern amenities and a natural rural environment makes it the heart
of the Lockyer.

The Corporate Logo
The Lockyer Valley Regional Council Logo is a dynamic and colourful
depiction of the Valley in the shape of the combined Gatton and
Laidley Shire's, with a green fertile valley of growth, the rich
soils, and the blue of the creeks running through the Valley.
The logo captures the essence of the regions rich history built on
the back of our agriculture and farming heritage.
